Please see UPDATE - Maya is about
2 years old and very sweet. She loves people and will continue to update as more is
discovered about her personality. |

Demi is approximately 2 years old and full of Border
Collie antics and energy. She will need a home that will keep her safe and on leash when out and about as she loves to chase anything that moves, dig holes faster than a speeding light, and can calm down in the house into a very loving companion. Demi was pulled from Calcasieu Animal Services (Calcasieu Animal Control), in Lake Charles ,LA several months ago and is currently in foster care in Lake Charles, LA under Border Collie Rescue/Texas. She is a delightful , attentive dog that needs to be an active companion to someone without young children. She loves people but may bounce about too much for little ones. Demi is considered a special needs girl as she was apparently hit by a car as a puppy and altho she would love to do many sports activities, she should not. You would never know she had been hit as she can keep up with the foster mom's other dogs and rough and tumble with them. She will also need to be kept slim and exercised. Demi should not be in a situation where she will be left outside unattended as she loves to dig, would chase cars and livestock. Demi is spayed, hips x-rayed, on heartworm /flea prevention and heartworm negative , and up on all vaccinations. If you are interested in Demi, please go to http://www.bcrescuetexas.org and fill out the application. You may also contact her foster mom at ich58@yahoo.com or samarai1234@yahoo.com. A home visit will be done, all references and current vet references will be checked. If you have a place in your heart and home for a girl like Demi, she is waiting for that right home. 03/20/05 |

Zee is an approximately 18 month old border collie
female with a tremendous amount of energy. She is a loving girl that will
do well with an active family that participate in dog sports like agility
or flyball, or an active lifestyle like running and hiking. Zee loves people of all ages and does well with other dogs but is too bouncy for small children or small dogs. She is a great squirrel chaser so would not have her around cats or other small pets. Zee was brought into rescue from Louisiana just days from total starvation, and has recovered well to become a very happy, healthy, active girl with a great smile and love to give. She is spayed, on flea/heartworm prevention and heartworm negative, up on all vaccinations, and housebroken. She is in foster care with a foster home in Baytown TX near Houston, TX under Border Collie Rescue/Texas adoption program. All applicants will need to fill out an adoption form, all references and vet references will be checked, and a home visit done. If you feel Zee is the right companion to bring into your family, go to http://www.bcrescuetexas.org and fill out the adoption application. The foster mom will be in touch with you soon. I
am adopted!
Bonnie is a medium
sized Border Collie - very sweet young girl of about 18 months old.
Not much is known about Bonnie yet, but she seems to be a very nice girl
with manners. She now has her basic vaccinations, is heartworm
negative and on prevention. It is hoped that she will get to the
beauty salon soon to get cleaned up. Bonnie walks well on leash,
loves people of all ages, gives Border Collie hugs, and allows the
volunteer to work with her when she is eating. More time will be
spent with her to assess her in other areas of behavior. She is
currently in Sulphur, LA on Interstate 10 near the TX/LA border.
If interested in Bonnie, please contact the volunteer, Anita, at
samarai1234@yahoo.com.
An adoption form will be sent, all references checked and a home visit .
Bonnie does not appear to be a sport type dog at this time, but is an
active companion and will enjoy lots of attention and activities with
her family.

I am adopted! Heidi is a sweet, lo-key, perfect family companion for someone that wants an indoor type dog. She is heartworm free and on prevention, on flea prevention, spayed, and has all her shots. She is currently in rescue in the Lake Charles, LA area. Heidi is good with people and other dogs, but she will jump fencing , so needs to be an indoor dog or in a well-fenced yard with electric fencing on top. Heidi is a great dog! If you are interested in a gal like this, contact mprop44@aol.com for more information. Heidi originally was a stray and found in a local shelter. |

I
am adopted!
Ginger is 18 months old, born
June 2001. She was reportedly raised around children and was strictly an outside
dog(evident by her badly sunburned coat). She is settling down and showing much
potential as an agility prospect or herding competition prospect, very attentive to
movement, very alert, seeks attention often, gets her pat, then is off to explore, but
comes back often for more affection. Ginger has an athletic build, turns on a dime,
perk ears, and walking better on leash. She is up on all vaccinations, heartworm negative
on antigen testing, and on flea/heartworm prevention. If you are looking for rough
jewel and have the time/knowledge/patience to work with this girl, you will have a great
companion and working girl . She is a bit thin, and will be bathed. Ginger
seems to do best with younger dogs that are not too pushy. She will probably
chase small dogs and cats, chickens, etc. She can be tested on cats. To see more BC's, please go here: http://www.bcrescuetexas.org |

This is Buddy ADOPTED, a border collie/spaniel mix. We feel he was brought to the shelter as the owners wanted another puppy. He was one year old, all grown up an no longer a cute bundle of fluff , needed a job to do and people to play with. Buddy is a very nice boy that walks well on leash, is up on all vaccinations and preventions for heartworms and fleas. He will be neutered when adopted. Buddy does well with other dogs, can be tested on cats, and was raised around children. More will be known as time is spent with Buddy. Agility is also a strong potential for him and as yet, we have not had time to play much with Buddy. If you have the heart and home for this beautiful boy, contact the adoption counselor at Calcasieu Parish Animal Control and Protection in Lake Charles, LA at agodeaux@cppj.net, 337-439-8879 or 337-437-3831. |
