We would like to take the opportunity to say a huge THANKS to
Animal Assistance League of Slidell and PAWS in St. Tammany
for teaming up to offer low cost spay/nueters ($10 - any size, any sex)
to any dog or cat  in the parish whose owner can prove financial need. This program was
kicked off over this past weekend (02/12/05) and has done very well.

Welcome to Louisiana Rescue! In these pages we will show you some wonderful animals up for adoption, tell you about us and keep you up-to-date on what's happening in the state.  If you have an interest in rescue, are in our area or would like to network with us, please let us hear from you.   This Web site and LARES (La Rescue) is a not-for-profit, volunteer effort by the dog rescuers in Louisiana who communicate via the LARescue Internet discussion list.

If you are a rescuer in Louisiana or neighboring state who is interested in joining the email list, please fill out our application to subscribe.

What is NOT Responsible Rescue?

Good Deeds? --- Or Organized Fraud?

Please NOTE: It is understood that those rescuers affiliated with LARescue adopt animals that have been h/w tested and treated, spayed/neutered, up to date on inoculations and free of parasites. Anything less is unacceptable.

Looking for a specific companion? Breed?

If you have questions about a breed or about a dog you are looking for, please send E-mail. We will be happy to answer your questions.

Please Note: All animals presented on these pages will be H/W tested, Up-To-Date on mandatory "by law" vaccinations and they will be either spayed or neutered prior to any adoption.

In Memory of Maya - a rescued Border Collie

Maya (previously named Kira) was about 2 years old, loved people and was finally going to be available for her forever home. What happened you ask? Her prior caretakers didn't love her enough to protect her against Heartworm. Maya died during her 5th day of treatment on 9/5/2000. Maya should have had many more years of love, fun and a family but that was not to be. Please protect your furkids from this deadly tragedy. Keep your furkids safe. Don't we owe them that?
