Honored on our logo ~  My Sucia

sucia1.JPG (12665 bytes)

Sucia was given to me as a gift from a dear friend.  I immediatley started showing Sucia in 4-H and she became a multiple champion (both Junior Handling and Obedience) in WA.  state.  She was very flashy and loved being shown!  There are so many things we shared in our lives.  She loved spaghetti and pastas, no allergies, excellent health.  She was my little girl, companion and my life revolved around her.  I thought she'd be with me forever.

After Sucia died I found someone to research her pedigree.  Since she was spayed and I had moved, I no longer had her paperwork but someone was kind enough to research it all and supplied me with a 6 generation pedigree.  I was extremely impressed and knew why Sucia was such a lovely representation of the breed.  There are multiple champions behind her pedigree, some lovely dogs, BUT, in the first few generations, I was not able to recognize the names of the sires and dams.  I began to research them and found (sadly) that these were puppymills.  Somehow, these puppymills got ahold of a good breeders' bloodlines and began to mass produce them and sell through pet stores!

Because I believe there is a reason for everything, I believe Sucia was meant for me to realize what Puppy Mills and Back Yard breeders are and to what extent these kinds of people will go to in order to make money off of  beloved canine companions.  This is the reason for the name of my rescue "Sucia Oaks" to help others become educated, save their pets from the same fate as Sucia's siblings and parents are/were in and to help save those in need and to keep Sucia's memory alive as well as her reason for being put on this earth.  I was lucky to have Sucia in my life for the years I had her.  Thanks to Diane (I hope to find her again someday) for bringing this lovely little girl into my life.

Sucia and I shared many years together as she enlightened me to the world of Lhasa Apsos and showing. When she died in my arms at my home it broke my heart and I still look for that beloved white Lhasa that carries her proud and faithful spirit and integrity. She is greatly missed and forever in my thoughts and my heart: until we meet again at Rainbow Bridge.

Introducing our foundation Sire:

American and Canadian Champion "Knolwood's Theif of the Heart". Heart is a lovely male Lhasa representing his breed very well.  CERF Certified.

Heart is not for public stud; limited litters.

On May 6th, 1997 Amy was born 10 days premature with her muscles and joints affected.  When she was 6 months old, she was spayed, correction of her umbilical hernia and dental surgery were done.  At the age of 16 months  X-rays showed severe deformation in her hip joints and knees with arthritis already setting in.

Amysml.jpg (11001 bytes)

Amy is a very strong-willed little Lhasa with a desire to thrive.  She makes every possible effort to not let her physical handicaps slow her down.  She has a step stool to get onto the waterbed at night but sometimes will choose to jump up on her own.  Other times, she is slower and chooses to use her steps.  She likes to sleep on the pillow and will let anyone on the bed know it is her pillow!.  Her favorite spot in the home is to sit on my husband's computer desk during the day and her favorite treat is to steal cheddar cheese from someone's plate (usually mine when my back is turned).

We keep Amy clipped short and she is a housedog only with an overwhelming love for children of all ages, her preference being toddlers.   Amy is truly one of the most unique Lhasas I have ever had the pleasure of being 'owned by'.

Introducing - Di-Ti Bernadette Minsnow

Bernie

This is Miss Beautiful "Bernie".
She arrived at our home very young and she is the daughter to my American/Canadian Champion Knolwood's Thief of the Heart.

She did not like being shown so she was kept as a wonderful pet, produced a couple of litters and spayed.  Bernie doesn't like leashes but tollerates them, sleeps in bed with us, sits pretty and basically will do anything for
a treat.

Bernie is one of the sweetest Lhasas I have ever had the pleasure of being owned by.

Her puppies have the same temperment as she does making them a joy to bring into this world.

We hope for many more years with her.

This is Miss Dolly.

Miss Dolly

Di-Ti's Good Golly Miss Dolly

She was never shown due to a divorce with her family and her being 'clipped'.

Her personality is very comical.

Dolly is assertive with other female Lhasas, but loves all people that come around her, including kids.
