Ode to Fluffy

by Mary Hansen

She looked just like
a ragged old cat.
But I want to tell,
it wasn't always like that.

Seems like just a minute ago,
She owned a house, a car,
and a coat of gold.

A great big silken
fuzzy gold ball,
soft, smoothe, furrey,
fluffy and all.

Lightly stepping out
on tiny cat feet,
Never misbehavin,
polite and neat.

Never any trouble,
Always a lady,
Mama called her Fluffy,
Daddy called her "Baby".

So don't judge her now,
This pitiful lump of clay.
Little Lady, Daddy's Baby,
is forever gone away.
